Forensic Document Examination

Formerly known as handwriting analysis, forensic document examination involves the study and evaluation of handwriting to determine signature authenticity, identify authorship, or gain insights into the writer’s characteristics. Experts analyze elements such as letter formation, spacing, slant, pressure, and rhythm to reach informed conclusions about the writing sample. This process is widely utilized not only for authentication but also in forensic investigations and psychological profiling. Forensic document examination is a highly specialized field that employs scientific techniques to analyze documents for authenticity, origin, or evidence of alterations. Professionals in this discipline scrutinize handwriting, typewriting, inks, papers, and other document features, providing expert opinions in legal and investigative contexts. Their work often supports cases involving fraud, forgery, or disputed authorship.
